Dear Members, Colleagues, and Friends:

COVID-19 has hit our industry hard, but we are resilient. You will get through this—and we’ll get through it together. We can take actions right now that help get us to the other side of this crisis.  OMPA, your professional trade association, has been working with its board, its staff, and a coalition of community leaders to plan for how we can help our industry weather these challenging times.

HOW WE SUPPORT YOU

We connect you.

OMPA is the primary source of industry information and connector of the community at large. We are working hard to provide you with a steady flow of resources around financial reliefgovernment assistance, and opportunities to learn new skills. We’ve quickly pivoted to a full schedule of virtual events to keep you connected to your peers.

We are your voice.

OMPA is your industry’s advocacy organization. Over the last month, we collected and shared data around COVID’s impact on our industry, provided ways for you to engage in public policy, and established a COVID-19 task force made up of industry leaders to collectively identify needs and take action.  At the same time, we are actively preparing for the 2020 election cycle and looking ahead to a tough 2021 legislative session.

Over the years, the industry here has been nurtured and become strong. But it is also fragile. Statewide budget cuts are imminent. The incentive program is at risk. The access to a skilled talent pool, established vendors, relevant support services, and critical infrastructure could be impacted. Key industry organizations, like OMPA, that have helped build the strong production industry in the state, are in danger. To put it plainly: the ecosystem that we’ve built up can also break down. We believe that with your help, we can protect it.

OMPA relies on our members and sponsors as our primary sources of funding. As a 501c6 organization, we do not qualify for the Paycheck Protection Program. We are looking at ways to reduce costs but already operate lean with just two full-time staff. We hesitate to reduce staff hours at a time when our work is most needed. We know budgets are tight for many of you, but we hope you’ll keep OMPA as a priority in yours.

HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT US

OMPA wouldn't exist without the support of our engaged members, our generous sponsors, and our dedicated volunteers. Let's not lose this great resource we've built together over the last four decades. Help us protect OMPA for Oregon’s media professionals of today and the future. Your participation matters now more than ever.

We know our industry is ready to get back to work as soon as possible. This is our opportunity to come together, to tell the story of your industry and its impact, and to fight for it. We can do this together.

In solidarity,

Roland Gauthier
