Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Strategist Morgan Gress Johnson Joins Invariant
Washington, D.C., June 30, 2021 – Invariant welcomes corporate communications and public affairs strategist Morgan Gress Johnson today. With a decade of experience working for and with public and private organizations ranging from tech startups to Fortune 500 companies, Johnson will advise a range of clients on reputation and brand positioning.
“We are thrilled to welcome Morgan to our expanding strategic communications and public affairs team,” said Heather Podesta, founder and CEO of Invariant. “Morgan’s entrepreneurial approach to problem solving and strong ties in technology and regulated markets will help us continue to deliver strong results for our clients.”
Johnson joins Invariant from Brunswick Group, where she advised clients on reputation, crisis response, and public affairs issues with a focus in the technology, media, and telecommunications sectors. In addition, Johnson was the Washington office chief of staff, supporting the business market strategy, new business efforts, and people operations.
Prior to this, Johnson was the senior vice president of communications and marketing at Union, a software platform company connecting entrepreneurs with resources and funding globally. Earlier, as part of the founding team at 1776 – an incubator and venture fund focused on start-ups in regulated industries – she served as the head of marketing. Johnson was also with NJI Media, where she managed digital campaigns for advocacy and corporate issues.
“As we begin to construct a post-pandemic world, companies are seeking to develop forward-leaning communications strategies that recognize and harness current and potential political, regulatory, financial, and social issues,” said Johnson. “I am excited to join a firm committed to providing comprehensive counsel that helps shape this changing landscape for its clients.”
