Moses Kuria commented that Tatu City is a “good model of how County Governments can set up mixed-use industrial parks as Special Economic Zones.” Her Excellency Ann Waiguru also applauded Tatu City and Twiga Foods as Centres of Excellence for SEZs.

Food for Education

According to research, receiving free or reduced-cost school lunches lowers the incidence of obesity, poor health, and food insecurity in school children and provides the nutrients needed to learn throughout the day. Students are more likely to attend class more frequently and take fewer absences when they regularly consume nutritious meals at school. Tatu City is currently feeding more than 1,800 students per day from Tatu Primary School, Kongo Primary School, Ngewe Primary School, Oaklands Primary School and Ruera Primary School. Seven years into the program, which has served more than 1.2 million meals, enrollment has quintupled, nutrition rates have increased, and test scores improved significantly.
