CCI Global moving fast!
CCI Global broke ground on Eneo at Tatu Central, its ultra-modern contact center located in Tatu City. The start of construction of the 4,000-seat facility was flagged off by executives from CCI and Gateway Real Estate Africa, the developer, which also announced that Eneo at Tatu Central will include a second office tower and a retail center at Tatu City. Tatu City is Kenya’s first operational Special Economic Zone (SEZ). Businesses registered as SEZ Enterprises enjoy a 10% corporate tax rate for 10 years and a 15% rate for the subsequent 10 years (the standard corporate tax rate is 30%). Additional benefits include zero-rated VAT (a 16% savings), import duty exemptions and low withholding taxes.
Türkiye’s investments scale up at Tatu City
Kenya and Türkiye’s trade ties are flourishing at Tatu City and on track to reach both governments’ target of USD 1 billion according to Ahmet Cemil Miroğlu, Türkiye’s ambassador to Kenya. Ambassador Miroğlu paid a visit to Turkish suppliers and businesses at Tatu City, the 5,000-acre Special Economic Zone on Nairobi’s doorstep. Companies on the tour included Cold Solutions, Unity Homes and Dr. Mattress.
Tatu City developments marvel Ivy League students
More than a dozen post-graduate students from Harvard, Yale and Stanford got to experience the expansive development of Tatu City, a first of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa. The visitors were amazed at the concept, developmental growth and business opportunities available to private and public sectors with numerous Special Economic Zone financial incentives.
E-commerce growth at Tatu City
Did you catch the coverage of Twiga Foods in the latest edition of The Economist?  We’re proud that Twiga, which operates the largest food ripening facility in East and Central Africa at Tatu City, was held out as an example of e-commerce breaking down barriers to food security. One of several African e-commerce firms attracting tens of millions of dollars in venture capital. Twiga buys fresh produce directly from farmers and takes it to warehouses, where it co-ordinates delivery to informal retailers. The vendors place orders on the Twiga app, which gives the firm lots of data to match supply with demand leading to a reduction of waste produce that rots from 40% to 5%
Curafa gives easy access to health services
The World Economic Forum recognized Access Afya as an upcoming innovative tech company focusing on growing accessibility to affordable quality health services under its clinics across the country. Access Afya's Curafa Medical Clinic, which has a branch at Tatu City, is serving thousands from the local community working in Tatu City and nearby Ruiru, offering comprehensive outpatient healthcare for just KES 1,500 (USD 14) annually.
