Join Mrs. Allen and Mrs. Smith in the courtyard on Friday at 8:30 am for Coffee with the Principals. We would love to get to know you better and get a feel for how things have gone in the first quarter. This is also a great time to meet and fellowship with other parents!
From the Desk of Mr. B

As we have made a beginning in this school year, I have become increasingly aware of the spiritual battle that is taking place for the hearts of our kids.  As parents and school staff, we are fighting against a host of ideas, philosophies, and false teaching that is being flung at our students from nearly every direction.  From the TV, computer, phone, entertainment, video games, music, neighborhoods, and society in general, our children are being confronted with things they neither understand nor have the capacity to make judgments on.  It is a spiritual battle for the hearts and lives of our kids, and as parents and school staff, we are called upon to stand up and defend them.  Because it is a spiritual battle, it can only be waged in the spiritual realm.  The apostle Paul made it clear, “…we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12)  He follows this with the need to take up the whole armor of God, ending with verses 18 and 19, “praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.  To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all saints.”

Therefore, I offer an invitation to all school dads who would be willing to stand in battle for the spiritual health of our kids to join me for a time of prayer each week.  These will be held on Fridays from 6:30-7:00 am, in the lounge beginning Oct 22nd.  We will gather on our knees to pray for the students and the school and stand shoulder to shoulder for the cause of the Truth of God.  I know your days are busy and you must get to work, but the work of protecting our kids by joining in prayer is certainly one of the most essential things you do as a dad.  Please, join me.
The first quarter is coming to an end this week and soon you will be receiving your child's report card. Thursday, October 21 will be a half day to give time for conferences after school. Parent Teacher Conferences may be scheduled at the parents' request or a teacher may reach out to schedule a time to meet.  Conferences can be held virtually or in-person.

For those who would like to schedule a conference,
follow this link to sign up for a slot on Thursday, Oct 21 or Friday, Oct 22.
Show your school spirit by wearing Western wear on Friday, October 22nd. Clothing must adhere to the Dress Code standards.  Hats may be worn, but no weapons are permitted on campus - even fake weapons.
RightNow Media is preparing to roll out some exciting updates in the coming weeks, so we thought now would be a good time to remind of the resources available to your family for FREE. FCS has paid for each of our school families to have access to this online library of Christian videos and Bible studies.

If you have not signed up, you can
click here to create your free account. This is a great resource for the whole family!
October kicks off this year's Scrip Contest!  Families who order at least $100 worth of scrip products each month from Oct - Mar will be entered in a monthly drawing for a $25 gift card.  Families who are eligible for the drawing every month will be entered in a grand drawing at the Parent Association meeting on 3/31 for a $50 gift card.  Participants must be present to win.

Thank you to all of the parents who donated items for the Elementary Adventure and came out to help. It was a fantastic day and the students had a great time learning about the spiritual theme!
We are continuing our efforts to make the drop-off and pick-up process as fast and efficient as possible while always prioritizing safety. It is imperative that we all drive slowly around campus and be aware of pedestrians and other vehicles. Please help by keeping the following in mind:

1) Parents should not pull around the car in front of them when in the dropoff/pickup line.

2) Parents who wish to park in the morning need to walk their child to the student lines. Students should not be crossing the drop off line of cars without parental assistance.

3) Parents who wish to park in the afternoon need to check their child out with the teacher on duty and then walk down the sidewalk before crossing to their vehicle. Please take care when crossing or pulling into the moving pickup line.

Thank you for working with us to keep our students and staff safe.
Sophomores and Juniors are required to take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).  The PSAT/NMSQT offers students important benefits.  These include the opportunity to
  • Assess their verbal, writing, and mathematical skills
  • Find out what the SAT I is like
  • Forecast SAT I scores from their PSAT/NMSQT scores
  • Participate in the Student Search Service by having their names sent to colleges and government-sponsored scholarship programs that are looking for students like them
  • Qualify for scholarship recognition and for enrichment programs that use the PSAT/NMSQT.

All sophomores and juniors take the test.  Only juniors can qualify for the National Merit Scholarships, but it is good practice for sophomores.  The cost is $20.00. The cost of the test will be added to your account.  The test will be given at Faith on Tuesday, October 26 and will begin promptly at 8:30.  The test should last approximately three and a half hours and should be finished by lunch.
A student study guide and practice test will be given to students. If students have questions on the practice test, they may see Mrs. Smith.
On Friday, October 8th attendees will meet on campus at 4:30 and head to Mi Amigos for dinner (transportation will be provided).  After dinner, they will go to the Hale Theatre for a production of Mary Poppins. The night will end back on campus where they can be picked up by 11pm.
Please follow the guidelines for formal wear found in the dress code (pg. 21-22).
