Dear Parent/Carers,

Trevor Mullings (site manager)
We are really sorry to be saying goodbye to Trevor, our site manager. He has been with us for 3 years and he has been fantastic at looking after our school. Despite the long hours, he always has a smile on his face and a cheerful word for everyone. Trevor has worked tirelessly throughout his time at Hazelwood, turning his hand to everything from clearing up after school events to making sure that teachers leave the school eventually. We are really going to miss him and we wish him all the best in the future.
Reducing Our Paper Usage - Letters now on Parent Pay
As you are aware, we are trying to reduce the amount of paper we are using at school. As of this week, letters about events that require payment are going to be on parent pay. In order to view these letters, go to the communication tab once you  have logged into your account. If you don't have a parent pay account, please speak to the office. A text will be sent out to notify you that there is an upcoming trip.

Nursery Sing-a-Long
It was lovely to see so many parents and relatives joining us this week to take part in the sing-a-long with the nursery classes. The children have been working really hard at learning the different songs and even made festive crowns to wear for the occasion.

Dick Whittington and his Cat
Don't forget to buy your tickets to this year's HPSA pantomime.  Tickets will be on sale at the school gates at the beginning of next week.  It will be a memorable performance as always. - Oh yes it will!

Christmas is Nearly Here
There is less than one week until the children break up for the holidays.  It is a very busy time of year.  To keep up to date with when things are happening in your child's class, such as Christmas parties, Christmas jumper day and any other events, please remember to look at the year group page on our website. There is a link at the bottom of this page.

Breakfast Club and After School Club
A polite reminder that to secure your child's place in these clubs, you will need to pay in advance for the entire first half of Spring term.

Payment for School Meals
Please could I remind all those parents/carers of children that have school meals that their child's Parentpay School Meal account should always be in credit before a meal is taken. Unfortunately we are having a lot of accounts that are not in credit and meals are being taken.
We would appreciate that any current debts are paid as soon as possible before the end of term.

On Monday 3rd December a team of children from the tag rugby squad competed in the first round of the league fixtures. The team played against Raglan and St. Andrews Schools. Just as we were about to start, the heavens opened and it became very wet and muddy quickly! The children coped well in the conditions and managed to score some try’s from some good link up play. Well done to Isabella, Harry, Emma, Faye, Zach, Louie, Samia, Ryan and Sam.
On Friday 7th December a team of KS2 children represented Hazelwood in the Enfield Borough Panathlon event. The children had to compete in a variety of aiming, throwing, hand eye coordination and running activities to earn points as a team. They were a credit to Hazelwood! Well done to Rhianne, Pierce, Patryk, Amilios, Jonah, Zain and William!

Leeds University Research - Children's eating habits
The University of Leeds are conducting a study to find out more about children’s eating habits and food in the family home. In particular, they are interested in the views of parents of primary school aged children and have developed an online questionnaire. The questionnaire takes about 8-12 minutes to complete, is anonymous and voluntary.

Thank you to everyone who attended our HPSA coffee morning. We had a surprise guest in Mrs Kilkenny our new Head. She got to see how involved parents are at the school and was impressed with our community spirit which is one of Hazelwood's many strengths. We look forward to a new start in the New Year and we are grateful as always for the continued support from Mrs Gannon.
Thank you for all the help you've given the school in 2018. Lots to look forward to in 2019 - disco, cinema, comedy, My Special Person Day, Ladies Night, Hazelwood's Got Talent and the warm glow of the Summer Fete is on the horizon too.
We wish you all a Merry Christmas.
