2018.10.22 Media Release _Biomass Technology Demonstration Day
Over the past couple of years, the NCA has been involved in looking into new/improved charcoal production technology. During this year we started testing a couple of retorts and compared them to the traditional Namibian drum kiln. The retort technology still has to cover some ground before it will be able to replace the Namibian drum kiln.
The charcoal testing site!
The NCA rented the site from Mr W Dieckmann. The prime location (close to the entrance of Otjiwarongo) led to many interactions with charcoal producers and interested parties.
Study Tour on Industrial Biomass Parks (Germany, Belgium)
The Bush Control and Biomass Utilisation project facilitated a study tour to Germany / Belgium based biomass hubs (biomass industrial parks) to showcase an international development perspective.
Impacts of bush encroachment on groundwater recharge.
