Dear CMC Families and Friends,

The health and welfare of our students, faculty and the San Francisco community is utmost on our minds during this time of the COVID-19 outbreak. We have been carefully monitoring the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the San Francisco Department of Public Health updates and recommendations and implementing those recommendations at both our branches. With the San Francisco Unified School District’s decision to close for three weeks, we have also decided to implement a more proactive approach to be certain we are protecting our cherished community and responding in the most effective way.

Community Music Center has decided to close its Mission District and Richmond District Branches from March 14–April 5. All CMC concerts and events during this period have also been canceled.

If you are a student or faculty member, you will also receive information about CMC plans continue music lessons remotely. If you are a concert goer planning on seeing an event in the coming weeks, we apologize for the cancellation.

We will continue to follow the recommendations of the CDC and the San Francisco Department of Public Health. If we anticipate extending our closure past April 5, we will provide timely updates. Please check your email, CMC social media, and our website for the most current information.

During this time of economic uncertainty, please consider a donation to CMC. We also encourage you to support the small businesses and arts organizations in your community as you are able. While we may be physically separated, we need to come together to keep our community alive and thriving.

We thank you for your patience with CMC during this time. Throughout the days and weeks of this global outbreak, our community’s well-being is our number one concern.

My very best,

Julie Rulyak Steinberg
Executive Director
