1. CITY WORKSHOP IN BRUSSELS
On 30 January 2018 our next workshop will take place in Brussels, Belgium. This multi-stakeholder workshop will be moderated by our project partner Energy Cities and will address how to support citizen initiatives in the field of energy at local level. In particular, we will be exploring how public bodies can help such initiatives emerge. It will take place in the municipal offices (Bruxelles Environnement).  Participants' expertise are drawn form a wide range of organizations, from experts in energy to social services. To express interest in the day and/or its outputs, visit the workshop page here.
2. ENERGY-SSH RESEARCHERS UNITE (WITHIN OUR DATABASE)!
With the launching of the latest H2020 calls, and would-be coordinators looking to create new consortia, this seems a good time to highlight the SHAPE ENERGY researcher database as a way to find partners working within energy-related Social Sciences and Humanities (energy-SSH). In this blog post Rebecca Spannenkrebs, Rosie Robison (ARU, UK) and Martin Anfinsen (NTNU, Norway) discuss the creation and evolution of our database as well as the energy research landscape across Europe more generally. Read the full post here.
3. VIDEO: JOIN OUR SOCIAL MEDIA COMMUNITY!

4. VIDEO: ‘CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS FOR THE REFURBISHMENT OF MULTI-APARTMENT BUILDINGS IN RIGA’. FEEDBACK FROM PARTICIPANTS
CITY WORKSHOP IN RIGA: Feedback from participants

Our first city workshop took place in Riga, Latvia, in November. Together with local government, business, academics and community groups we explored the challenges of the refurbishment of 6 000 multi-apartment buildings by 2030 in the city. We used the storytelling methodology to facilitate productive working and envision solutions for these challenges. Listen here to some participants.

5. BLOG - CAN CAMBRIDGE LEAD ON LOW-ENERGY HOUSING?
On this post our project leaders from Anglia Ruskin University reflects on the productive meeting that took place at the Guildhall in Cambridge for the second SHAPE ENERGY multi-stakeholder workshop, and highlights some of the interesting perspectives discussed at the event.
6. SHAPE ENERGY RESEARCH DESIGN CHALLENGE & THINK PIECE COLLECTION: ABSTRACTS PUBLISHED
Under the titles: ‘Control, Change and Capacity-Building in Energy Systems’ and ‘Visions for the Energy Union: Driving future energy policy through better integration of Social Sciences and Humanities’ our Research Design Challenge & Think Piece Collection were launched in late August. We received many interesting applications and have just published a list of all abstracts and academic groups involved. See here the RDC list and the Think Pieces list.
7. BLOG - FROM BRITISH ‘LADIES ACCELERATORS’ TO BERLIN 90S SUBMARINE TECHNO – OR HOW TRANSPORT TOOK OVER MY LIFE
A post on how the SHAPE ENERGY annotated bibliography on transport decarbonisation was written, by Dr. Kat Buchmann from Anglia Ruskin University: ‘It was a fascinating process and as a side effect, I got to geek out about transport ephemera. In this blogpost, I’d like to share some of my favourite finds with you and then discuss some of the issues we encountered trying to actually produce the bibliographies.’

9. UPCOMING SHAPE ENERGY CITY WORKSHOPS (FEBRUARY 2018) – REMINDER
On 15 February 2018 a multi-stakeholder workshop will take place in Trondheim, Norway. It will be facilitated by our project partner the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and will focus on the decarbonisation of Trondheim’s transport sector. The following week, on 22 February 2018 in the city of Heidelberg (Germany), our project partner the Karlsruher Institut Fuer Technologie (KIT) will organize their multi-stakeholder workshop, exploring which fields the behaviour of citizens impact the energy transition and identify challenges towards the emergence of the “energy-citizen”.  Stay tuned for more info on these events!
