Business Valuations

Handled with care

Whatever your client’s reason for requiring a business valuation, Davies Tracey can provide a valuations service that:
• Determines the correct valuation range dependent upon scenario
• Prepares a valuation report in a range of formats – always detailed yet understandable
• Assists negotiations if required, based on a business valuation as part of a wider transaction
• Acts in an independent expert capacity

Having recently updated our valuations method to use best practice within the market, and to involve several skilled members of the Davies Tracey team, we are confident that our valuations stand up to scrutiny – especially important in dispute situations.

Valuations can be made of individual companies, entire groups or individual departments/sectors. Our reports include a full explanation of how the valuations are calculated.

Our valuations have helped in a variety of cases, from establishing a share option scheme through to business sales - and most commonly during the probate and divorce process.
Other cases we’ve assisted with include:
• A business purchase or merger
• Shareholder disputes
• Shareholder protection (life cover)
Why use Davies Tracey? Because we 'handle with care'...

“Business or share valuations are not an exact science, so it’s important that solicitors can call upon the services of respected professional advisers, confident in the judgement they apply to valuations. The judgement applied by ourselves is based on many years’ experience, and we have seen demand for our valuations service grow with the rates of those requiring an independent expert and seeking exactly that – an expert.”

FAQs
How do you prepare valuations?
Methods of valuation may be affected by the type or purpose of the valuation. Typically, we apply various models to businesses in order to give a reasonable valuation. These techniques include the asset, earnings and discounted cash flow models.

Can you evaluate valuations?
During acquisition negotiations, we can act on behalf of a client to evaluate valuations prepared by other professional advisers, providing a simple overview or a comprehensive critique.

Do you act as an expert witness?
If required, we can act as an expert witness for the claimant or respondent.
