Virtual CPSA Council meeting - May 28 & 29
To still get important work done safely, CPSA Council will be meeting May 28 and 29 using Zoom. If you want to call in and listen to the meeting, you must pre-register by contacting Please note you are not “joining” the meeting, just calling in. The meeting will be two, half-day sessions starting at 9:00 a.m. (MT). We’ll provide more information on how to call in when you pre-register. To see what’s on the agenda, visit after May 21.
CPSA Advice to the Profession: Social Media
Social media has rapidly become an important method of communication as well as a forum for expressing opinions and debate. Understandably, many physicians engage in these activities through their use of social media. CPSA is providing this advice since we believe it’s important to guide physicians in how best to communicate in this environment to help prevent any miscommunication that could put both the individual physician and the profession as a whole at risk.

Updates to Alberta Netcare eReferral 
New updates to eReferral Advice Request were made on April 16, 2020, including the additions of:
  • OBS-GYN – Urogynecology – Edmonton Zone
  • Orthopaedic Surgery (Shoulder issue) - Province-wide*
  • Otolaryngology (Adult & Paeds) – Calgary Zone
  • Paediatrics – Gastroenterology – Edmonton Zone
  • Psychiatry – Child and Adolescent – Edmonton, Central & South Zones
*On April 24, 2020 Orthopaedic Surgery released more Advice Request reasons for referral province-wide, including: Ankle issue, elbow issue, foot issue, hip issue, knee issue and wrist issue.
