White Fragility: Why It's So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism
   Thursday, July 8, 2021 12:00pm - 1:00pm

White Fragility
In this talk, race and social justice educator Robin DiAngelo helps audiences understand the dynamics of White Fragility, how we come to engage in them, and how we can move beyond them. Based on her #1 New York Times bestselling book White Fragility: Why It's So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism, Dr. DiAngelo helps audiences and organizations develop an antiracist framework based on education, self-awareness, and engaged practice.
We are expecting a lot of questions for the Q&A portion of this session and we ask that you submit your questions early to We will try our best to get as many of your questions answered as possible. Thank you.

On behalf of First Pres, THANK YOU to all who contributed to the 2021 CROPWALK!
We more than doubled our First Pres of $1,500.  We raised $3,500!

Over the past 16 months as we have seen the increasing food insecurity in our own backyard, across the nation and around the world.     The need for ongoing aid and assistance has never been more critical and the need so great.  The CROPWALK was indeed a wonderful effort to help address the issues of hunger and inequity in access to food “one step at a time”.

It should be noted that the Albany Walk exceeded their goal of $100,000 which means 25% of the funds raised will be put to immediate use right here in the Albany area to address hunger and food insecurity. Once again, thank you for your generosity and commitment to ending hunger and helping to ensure our neighbors, locally and globally, are provided for.

Reviews of Antiracism Resources

Do you have an antiracism book or other resource you want to share?
One First Pres priority is “combating systemic racism both within and outside the church.”  Many of you are already reading and discussing books and articles that address this underlying racism, and the Membership Committee invites you to share your insights and thoughts in First Pres eblasts.  What did you find enlightening?  For whom would you recommend this particular book or article?  Reviews of other media addressing racism, such as movies, TV shows, podcasts and children’s resources are welcome.  Please email your mini review to: Carol Green.  Questions about reviews may be directed to Carol Green at email or call or text 518-331-1447.
