A message from
Stewardship Committee
“But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able thus to offer willingly?  For all things come from thee, and of thy own have we given thee”
(1 Chronicles 29:14)
 
King David, addressing the assembled people of Israel, praised God and acknowledged that all gifts stem from God’s abundant bounty.  Generations later, the Apostle Peter encouraged the hearers of his First Epistle to employ the gifts received by God by using those gifts to serve others.  As Jesus instructed, we are at our greatest when we are servants of all.  What gifts do you have?  How can those gifts be used to serve others – both those within and without our First Presbyterian community?
 
This fall, the Stewardship Committee invites you to prayerfully consider the gifts you have received from God and how those gifts may be used to serve others in 2023.

The Outreach and Mission Committee is looking for several individuals to join our 6 on 6 dialogue team that will be meeting with representatives from the Walls Temple AME Zion congregation. Meetings will be held monthly to foster understanding, cooperation and mutual ministry support. For further information, please contact Debra or Eric Fagans (edfagans@mac.com). Pastor Alphonso Meadows of Walls Temple has led worship at First Presbyterian as part of our Black History Month observance and participated in our Advent Carol sing-alongs.

On October 3rd at 7pm, The Wizard’s Wardrobe will hold its Annual Readers Theatre at Cap Rep. The readers this year will include Alice Green and Paul Grondahl, along with the Children at the Well and others. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online through the website (https://wizardswardrobe.org), under "Latest News.” The theme for presentations this year is “Hope for Changing Times.” Casey Seiler, Editor of the Times Union, will serve as Master of Ceremonies. Our new chief operating officer, Diane Brown, will have a few words, also.
