First Pres, through the Social Justice and Peacemaking Committee, has been working with the Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival.
Here are some opportunities for education and advocacy:
Wednesday, August 19 at 6:30 pm will be our monthly Capital Region PPC Organizing Meeting, open to the public. Join the Zoom call to learn about the work of the campaign in the Capital Region and get connected with local organizers. There are always open seats at our table. Facebook link | ActionNetwork link
Thursday, August 27 at 6 pm is the Healthcare and Housing Virtual Town Hall. Join the call and listen to our demands being made to state legislators and candidates, and to testimonials from directly impacted New Yorkers and activists on the front lines of the struggle for healthcare and housing rights. We want to lift your stories and amplify your voices. Everyone has a right to live. Everyone has a right to safe housing and high-quality healthcare. Consider sharing your healthcare and housing experiences with us in order to Shift the Narrative by Shifting the Narrator!

Wizard’s Wardrobe message: It’s hard to believe, but Fall is right around the corner!! And with it an opportunity to help the children in the South End. Because of school-as-we-know-it ended in mid-March, our students are even more behind than they usually are after just a summer off. We are looking for tutors to help them catch up. We will be doing our tutor training virtually on September 12 and 26. Our tutoring will be a mixture of some in-person for those who want to do that and virtual for those that feel more vulnerable. If you are interested in becoming a tutor, please call or email Debbie Fagans at 518-776-0664 or
