As a church open to all and as an intergenerational community of faith,
we want to do our very best to be a welcoming, healthy place for all generations.
Please wear a mask and maintain social distance
as there are vulnerable people present.
Thank you for your patience and kindness to each other.

First Pres, through the Social Justice and Peacemaking Committee, has been
working with the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival.

On Tuesday, November 22nd, we'll join with our friends from VOCAL-NY and the Freedom Unshackled Coalition for a screening of 'The Interview' and a discussion of Parole Justice. This will be held at the Washington Ave branch of the Albany Public Library at 6:30pm. Learn more and RSVP here.
Monday, December 6th, we will be holding an End Medical Debt Community Forum. We'll begin at 5:15pm with a rally and press conference outside St. Peter's Hospital (one of the worst culprits in our state for suing poor and low-income patients over medical bills) and then at 6:30pm will have the forum at Bethany Reformed Church, just a short walk/drive up New Scotland Ave. More details and RSVP can be found here.
SAVE THE DATE - we are planning to do some canvassing in advance of the End Medical Debt Forum on Saturday December 3rd. Details are being finalized but it will be midday. Stay tuned for more info!
If you or someone you know is dealing with medical debt and are willing to share the story, please fill out this form and we'll be in touch!
Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or ideas!

WIFI Update: One of the new projects within the Property Committee is an upgrade of our WIFI infrastructure within the church.
We have just added new WIFI transmitters (called access points) in the Sanctuary, Assembly Hall & Rose room and will expand into the 2nd & 3rd floors in the next few months. These new units provide broader coverage throughout the church and increased transmission speeds (including the newest WIFI 6 / ax band). In parallel we are upgrading the internal wired network to 1 gigabit/second, so that staff can be as productive as possible.
There are two WIFI networks (SSIDs) within the church:
1) FirstPres (for church staff)
2) FirstPres-guest (for all members and guests) -- the password is FirstPres#
For most uses we recommend you use FirstPres-guest as it is the most secure -- everyone using this network cannot see anyone else on the same network (but everyone can access the Internet). For increased security the staff network is also isolated from the guest network.
We will change (and let you know) the passwords annually.
If you have a special program, say, like the Sabbatical slideshow, contact Dwight or Owen for the staff password.
Special thanks to Kevin Fuscus, Bruce Brynolfson & Dwight Cheu for their help in upgrading the WIFI.
Here is a picture of the installation in the Sanctuary.

Interested in finding out more about First Pres? Have you been worshiping with us and are interested in learning about becoming a member? If so, please contact Pastor Miriam (mleupold@firstpresalbany.org or 518-449-7332). She will be zooming/meeting with interested people, exploring their hopes and dreams for where they can serve God.

Equinox has been serving Thanksgiving dinners for more than fifty years. While over the years, many of those dinners were served at our church, this year, the dinner will be prepared by restaurants, and delivered by volunteers. This is quite an operation, as they serve more than 10,000 meals! Jesus fed 5000 from five loaves and two fishes, but to get turkey and the fixings to 10,000 requires funds and logistics support. The Social Justice & Peacemaking Committee provided a donation from the congregation, but urges individual members to get involved. You can donate, or sign up to volunteer at: thotline@equinoxinc.org

If you have a prayer concern or a prayer need that you would like to have lifted in prayer on a continuing basis, please remember the prayer chain. You can email a request to firstpresprayer@yahoo.com or call the church office (518-449-7332). These will be forwarded to the First Pres prayer chain, a group of people that have committed to pray for the needs of others as they arise. These requests for prayer are separate and/or different from the “prayers of the people” that are wonderfully available each Sunday.
Please send any prayer requests to Jamie to be included in worship on Sunday.
