INSTRUCTIONS Facebook Live Streaming: we’ll normally start broadcasting about 3 to 5 minutes before the service (so 9:55–9:57) with Trevor’s prelude. Any time after that go the main Facebook page for First Presbyterian Church of Albany. Very close to the top (or maybe just by scrolling down slightly) you’ll see the video with the words “Live now” or something similar. Click on the video and it will open into a larger window and play.  So just stay on the First Pres home page, no need to go into Events or any other sub-page.
HELPFUL TIP: if you don’t see the livestream on the home page, refresh / reload your browser screen.  Don’t hesitate to call Dwight Cheu at 518.469.1544 if you have any problems.

Advocacy Update

Hundreds of Activists Converged on First Pres Church & Washington Park Monday to march on the Capitol for healthcare. First Pres members were part of this important march & rally Monday to #PassNYHealth, to secure guaranteed healthcare for ALL New Yorkers!

On the first day that our church building was officially re-opened, we welcomed folks arriving from all over the state, providing restrooms and water. Volunteers made hundreds of sandwiches in our church’s kitchen.

Signs and banners made at our Art Build & picnic on Memorial Day by our youth group and members of First Pres and the Poor People’s Campaign on featured at the head of the March, and on the news. Check out news coverage here: NYNOWWNYT/Channel 13.

Across the world, governments guarantee healthcare as a basic right. We saw concretely this year that no other rich country allowed people to lose their health insurance in the middle of a pandemic. We can do so much better in New York State. We need a system that guarantees healthcare for all. We need to pass the New York Health Act.
Legislators have through TODAY to pass legislation this year that creates a universal, guaranteed healthcare system. Here’s what you can do right after reading this eblast to keep up the pressure on Albany:
  • Contact your Elected leaders! Take a few minutes to contact your elected leaders and make sure they hear loud and clear that we cannot return to the same old healthcare system after seeing the unnecessary deaths and suffering during this devastating pandemic. We must guarantee healthcare for every New Yorker as a matter of health, economic, and racial justice. Call, Tweet, and/or email NOW! and make sure they know it is past time to #PassNYHealth.
