A 2022 CROP Walk Update

The 2022 Albany CROP Hunger Walk was a great success.  We surpassed our goal of $100,000.  So far the amount raised is $106, 680 and we are still counting!

25% of the final total will come back to the Albany area to support food pantries.  This demonstrates our commitment to taking action to confront hunger and food insufficiency here at home as well as globally.

First Pres reached and surpassed the goal of $1,500 we set.  We raised more than $2,500, almost doubling our goal.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to our success, by donating money and/or by walking.

If you would like to contribute to the WALK, you still have time.  You can donate by check, (make out to CWS),  make a donation through the CWS website to First Presbyterian Albany, or if you prefer, make a cash donation by placing the funds in a First Presbyterian envelope.   The ultimate deadline is June 9th.

Once again, thank you to all for supporting a campaign to end hunger.

Advocacy Work

First Pres, through the Social Justice and Peacemaking Committee, has been
working with the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival. Here are opportunities for education and advocacy

Get on the New York bus to the June 18th Poor People's And Low-Wage Workers Assembly and Moral March On Washington.

New York is joining people from across the nation to gather in Washington, DC for the June 18th Poor People's and Low-Wage Workers Assembly and Moral March On Washington. We will come together after months of mobilizing and organizing for this declaration by poor and low-wealth people and our moral allies to say that this system is killing ALL of us and we can’t…we won’t…we refuse to be silent anymore!

Saturday, June 18 departure times and locations in New York state are listed below. We will be returning in the late evening on June 18. We encourage all who are able to donate to cover the cost of their seat ($75). Lunch will be provided. Proof of vaccination will be required.

Join Us! Register now to reserve your seat!

Opportunity to participate in Albany’s Capital District Pride Parade! First Presbyterian will have a decorated vehicle and individuals marching in the Pride Parade at 12:00 pm on Sunday, June 12, 2022 after worship service. All are welcome to join! The Social Justice & Peacemaking Committee and the Youth Group are organizing decorating, sign making, etc. Please contact Lillie McLaughlin or Molly Dowel Baum for details.

FELLOWSHIP TIME:  We're pleased to announce that Fellowship Time is once again being held either in Assembly Hall or outside on Willett St. following the Sunday Worship Service.  The Hospitality Team Coordinator Deacon David Hinchen is organizing this effort. As we no longer have a custodian and are no longer relying on flocks to oversee this task, we're seeking members of the congregation to assist with making coffee, bringing snacks, setting up and putting things away.  If you're available on any upcoming Sundays, please contact:

David Hinchen
(518) 489-1854 (call or text)

  2. Groups are HIGHLY encouraged to form your own cohort from your congregation/community to travel and attend the March together June 18. That is a  great option if you want to make your own schedule and find a comfy room to stay overnight in DC. Go here to RSVP your group and find resources for planning your trip to DC June 18

  3. The ARTF is forming a cohort and has space for 2-3 more people to travel together by train and stay at an AirBnB in DC Friday-Sunday, June 17-19, including attending worship locally before returning to NY.
