Bread for the World Offering of Letters

Thank you to all who participated in Sunday's Offering of Letters. We are sending 80 letters to our Congressional representatives letting them know how important working to eliminate food insecurity is to us.

If you are sending letters from home, please let us know at info@firstpresalbany.org, so we can include you in our count.

PINKSTERFEST?

What is Pinksterfest? Why are we learning about it on Pentecost Sunday? What does it have to do with Albany’s Dutch heritage? What does slavery have to do with it? And what does June 3rd have to do with any of this? Come to Adult Ed on Sunday May 28th and learn the answers to these questions and more.

PICNIC WITH OUR FRIENDS AT WALLS TEMPLE AME ZION CHURCH

We are looking forward to having our potluck picnic with Walls Temple AME Zion Church scheduled for June 10th. We will meet at 1:00 PM at  Walls Temple Church, 27 Delaware St in Albany, and picnic outside on their lawn.

Come make new friends! Bring a dish to share. There will also be hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill. We are planning some outdoor games with plenty of laughter. Children are welcome!! We will move inside if there is rain.

RSVP at info@firstpresalbany.org by June 1st with the number who will be attending.

We are still planning to  publish a First Pres/Walls Temple cookbook of favorite recipes. So keep the recipes coming.

PS If using GPS, be sure to put in 21 Delaware ST, not Ave.

On Sunday, May 21, two confirmation students joined the church as Active Members: Kaylee Kite and Charles Cameron Hunter. Our Prayers are with Pharryll Elad (12th grade) on the recent passing of his father. May the whole family feel the presence of The Divine Comforter as they remember his life and grieve his death.

June is PRIDE!
June is Pride Month! A chance to celebrate the beloved diversity of God-given sexuality and gender identity and expression. It's also a chance to make our voices heard that as a collective church, we SAY GAY and Protect Trans Youth! In fact, our theme this year is "Protect Trans Youth."

We are looking forward to displaying the youth group's collection of Pride flags in Assembly Hall during the month of June!
At our June 4 meeting after worship 12-2pm in the youth room, we will create some signs and banners and decorations for the parade. We will be marching in the Pride Parade June 11 along with others from First Pres. Come to the parking lot at 9:15am to decorate Molly's van for the parade!
