Kirinyaga County officials benchmark in Tatu City

Her Excellency Ann Waiguru, the Governor of Kirinyaga County and the Chairperson of the Council of Governors, led Members of the Kirinyaga County Assembly and executives to a benchmark forum where they learned more about Tatu City, which is the first operational Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Kenya. The governor is in the process of having the Sagana Industrial City gazetted as an SEZ, which will be the first climate-smart agro-industrial city in the Central region.
Tatu City Industrial Park, which has dozens of companies in its business-friendly location, has previously attracted Kenyan dignitaries such as President William S. Ruto, CS Investments, Trade and Industry, Moses Kuria and the Governor of Kisumu, Prof Anyang Nyongo.

Tatu City has completed 50km of international standard tarmacked roads in the new city, a milestone that will see more than 75 businesses at Tatu City and thousands of residents and school children enjoy transport infrastructure at its best. The latest roads at Tatu City include the extension of the TC 301 by 1.5km to Unity One, the community of one-bedroom apartments by Unity Homes, and the ongoing rollout of roads in the Kijani Ridge neighbourhood, which features 1/2- and 1/4-acre fully serviced plots. In an evaluation conducted by the Materials Testing and Research Division (MTRD) of the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing, Urban Development and Public Works, Tatu City has received top ranks for road quality and performance.
