Our goal is your safety

Tatu City’s mission is to be the safest city in Africa, starting with road safety. With a rapidly growing population of more than 2,500 residents, Tatu City is also home to five schools with a combined daily student population of 4,500. In addition, there are approximately 5,000 workers and visitors on any given day at Tatu City.

Resolute about protecting lives of visitors and residents, we have deployed radar guns and trained traffic marshals to enforce road safety. Regrettably, Kenya’s roads are among the most dangerous in the world (100 times more perilous than Europe’s when measured in road deaths per year per 100,000 vehicles). The good news is that studies have shown that it is possible in highly controlled areas to bring fatalities down to European levels within 12-18 months using unwavering enforcement and controls – like those we have at Tatu City.

While fines for speeding and dangerous driving are strictly enforced, here’s a secret (until now!): we reward safe drivers with a free tea or Dormans coffee at Roast by Carnivore at the entrance to Tatu City. Will you be having a coffee on us soon?
