Dormans Coffee
During the months of August and September, Dormans was privileged to train three cohorts of women on the tree-to-cup coffee experience. The program was organized in collaboration with Dorman's industry partners.

The intensive two-day training imparted skills and technical information to a total of 52 women from coffee co-operatives from Song’onyet, Kericho.  The objectives of the program were economic empowerment and closing the current income gap for women. Historically, the role of women in coffee has predominantly been relegated to manual labour, and women have had very little knowledge or understanding of how they can add value to the coffee produced. The number of women in decision-making, managerial or leadership positions has been dismal. Dormans knows that it is time to change this narrative. At Nairobi School of Coffee by Dormans, trainers discussed how the women could improve the quality and yield of coffee produced on the farms so as to uplift their incomes. They were sensitized to the myriad of opportunities available within the industry and thrilled when Dormans baristas Naomi, Brenda and Catherine demonstrated how to prepare different coffee drinks using different preparation methods. Yet another interactive session was on identifying differences in quality through visual and sensory analysis.

Dormans are passionate about providing an exceptional cup of coffee while improving the communities in which the company operates.
