SDG Finance Academy: Training, Knowledge, Access to Tools and Experts on Sustainable Finance
LEARNING PLATFORM – EXTERNAL
Launched in May 2022, the SDG Finance Academy helps colleagues understand financial tools and approaches, how they are linked to the SDGs, and what they mean for policy reform to support national development needs. It focuses on four key areas: including (i) Public Financing for the SDGs; (ii) Unlocking Private Capital for the SDGs; (iii) SDG Impact Management, Measurement and Finance Tracking; and (iv) Integrated National Financing Frameworks and Portfolios. It has already reached 70 Country Offices, with over 100 participants and a number of governments. Browse the 6 strong ideas —from a Knowledge and Data Hub in Bosnia-Herzegovina to a Collective Intelligence Sandbox in Mexico—received from colleagues around the world, and add your suggestions by 1 October 2022 to build on these ideas. The winner will receive the resources to design the new space and and the opportunity to present it to UNDP management during the knowledge session at the GPN Governance Board meeting in November 2022.

APPLIED LEARNING SESSIONS – UN(DP)
With many thanks to the Data community for sharing your priority topics, our weekly Data Thursdays interactive sessions will start again on 29 September 2022! Theme 9 will take a deep dive on how UNDP-led indices and indicators are defined and developed – the general approach, data and statistical analysis requirements – their main purposes and limitations and how they are used. Theme 10 will highlight best practices and how monitoring and evaluation (M&E) data and analytics are being used effectively across the organization. IMF on How Food and Energy are Driving the Global Inflation Surge
Based on their flagship IMF Chart of the Week, read up on this IMF blog to learn how rapid increases in food prices and energy costs have been some of the main drivers of quickening inflation around the world. It argues that targeted fiscal support can help cushion the impact on the most vulnerable. Policies to address specific impacts on energy and food prices should focus on those most affected without distorting prices. And with government budgets stretched by the pandemic such policies will need to be offset by increased taxes or lower government spending.
