March 31, 2017

Welcome to the first edition of the God-Centered Home Community Connection. I'm excited to be sharing resources for parenting with purpose as we all seek to create purposeful God-centered homes.

Remember, it doesn't have to be perfect to be purposeful!

Taylor Tribe Update

This week in the Taylor household was a little more eventful than usual, as I ended up in the hospital with pre-term labor at 33 weeks pregnant with twins. Our goal is to make it to 37 weeks at least, so we activated our prayer team and I'm grateful to be feeling much better.

We'd appreciate your prayers as well, especially for our kiddos (ages 7, 4, and 2) who will be experiencing LOTS of transitions in the next month or so.

On to the resources for this week!

1. Favorite Freebie

Seeds Family Worship is one of our absolute favorites when it comes to planting God's Word into our kids' hearts. All of their music is straight from scripture. It's the perfect way to ease into memorization and a bonus...the music is adult-friendly!

They are offering a free no-strings-attached download of the entire Seeds of Courage album through April 8th.

2. Family Focus

I've been seeing people sharing about "wins" their families are experiencing through the Ziglar Family 7-Day Challenge all over the internet this week.

The challenge is seven days of free videos including practical advice from experts in the areas of relationships, communication, physical health, work/life balance, community, finances, and faith.

We're huge fans of Gary Chapman's Love Languages books in our family, so I know his advice is spot-on. Same thing for Dave Ramsey's advice on finances -- his program changed our family forever.

{Fun fact -- my parents attend the same church as Dr. Chapman and I've had the pleasure of meeting both him and his wife. They are both an absolute DELIGHT!}

Join in on the 7-Day Family Challenge.

3. Deal of the Week

We recently signed up for Jelly Telly, the "Christian alternative to Netflix". I love that my kids can safely watch hundreds of shows without me worrying about the quality of the content. Instead, it's nurturing their hearts.

Right now when you sign up for a year's membership (including a free 7-day trial), you'll also receive the book What is Easter? by Phil Vischer (creator of Veggie Tales & What's in the Bible?).

This would make a great gift to include in Easter baskets!

4. On the Blog this Week

This week you'll find links to 16 Free 5-Minute Devotions for Kids from Compassion International's Compassion Explorer Kids Magazine.

I love that these quickly address a wide range of questions kids have. They're perfect for breakfast devotions or to use around the dinner table as a discussion starter for any age.

5. Inspiration for Your Parenting Journey

While I personally am not a stay-at-home mom, I was so encouraged by this post this week: Stay-at-Home Disciple-Makers: Five Ways Moms Live on Mission on the Desiring God website.

Monica's practical suggestions for discipling our children are applicable to ALL Christian families as we seek to be intentional with and make the most of our everyday moments.

Ebook Update

The final touches are happening as we speak on the free ebook, Teaching Kids About Jesus’ Death & Resurrection at Easter. As a subscriber, you'll be the first to receive this treasure trove of 50+ resources including simple activities, books, food-related activities, object lessons, and crafts that are sure to give you plenty of ideas for teaching your kids about the true meaning of Easter.

To share this free ebook opportunity with others, use this link or just forward them this edition of the Community Connection.

Blessings for a wonderful God-centered weekend for your family!
