Are you ready?

Because we're about to go...
I have good news and bad news. Bad news first.

In my experience, achieving big goals and creating significant change in your life requires at least some level of discomfort. You just can't avoid it.

But here's the good news: You can learn to lean in to the discomfort and be resilient in the face of it.

And here's even BETTER news! I'm going to help!

Each month I'm going to present you with a challenge based on my own experiences of getting a little (or a lot) uncomfortable in order to change, learn and grow. Each challenge is designed to force you to take a step (even just a baby step) outside your comfort zone.

Here we go!

"Showing Up"
Why "showing up" is important:
Every accomplishment starts with a decision to show up. It could be a first music lesson, or a first visit to a support group, or a first date.

It's been said, "Eighty percent of success is just showing up." For you pessimists out there, that logic offers no guarantees. But think of it this way, the chance of success is ZERO percent if you don't even try.

I have had many invaluable experiences (good and bad) in my life that would have never happen had I just stayed home. (Read more about my tales of showing up here.)

Showing up takes courage and determination and vulnerability. It demonstrates a willingness to try something without knowing what will happen. It develops the following skills and qualities:
  • Taking calculated risks
  • Independence
  • Prioritizing goals
  • Scheduling time for growth
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Confidence
  • Overcoming fear of the unknown

No more stalling... it's time for us to go...
Your January Assignment:

#1 Think of ONE thing that you have been contemplating showing up for.

#2 Show up for this thing ONCE by January 31.
