Croeso i fwletin mis Medi - mis Hydref!
Mae gennym newyddion a chasgliad o bethau i chi ymgeisio amdanynt, mae hefyd dolenni ar gyfer unrhyw gymorth a chyngor rydym wedi darganfod, ychydig o ddifyrrwch a llwyth o adnoddau.

                                              //
                                      Welcome to the September-October bulletin!
We’ve got some news and have collected some things to apply for, links to any support and advice we have found, some equally helpful distractions and a load of resources.

Mae wedi bod yn haf hir a rhyfedd. Wrth i bethau setlo gyda’n harferion anghyffredin, rydym wedi bod yn ystyried sut mae modd i ni weithio ag artistiaid ar raglenni creadigol heb ddibynnu ar beth yr oedd unwaith yn ymddangos oedd ein rhinwedd mwyaf gwerthfawr, sef ein gofod mawr, cymdeithasol a hyblyg.

Serch hynny, mae’n ymddangos gallwn fod yn gymdeithasol, ac yn hyblyg unrhyw le, felly mae llwyth o bethau yn ymddangos yn ein rhaglen dros y misoedd nesaf. Rydym wedi comisiynu saith artist/grŵp i ddatblygu gwaith newydd ar gyfer ein cyfres Intermission, mae tri mwy ‘Un-i-Un’ y mis hwn efo mwy i ddod yn hwyrach yn y flwyddyn, ac rydym yn datblygu digwyddiadau ar-lein gyda The Romani Cultural & Arts Association a gyda’r Jarman Award. Rydym hefyd yn gweithio ar ein hadnoddau ar-lein gyda chyfraniadau gan artistiaid. Rydym hefyd yn gweithio a’r gael ein hartistiaid Cymrodoriaeth yn nôl yn yr adeilad. Ni fydd y galeri ar agor tan 2021 ond mae ein rhaglen mor llawn ag erioed.
//

Gobeithio y croesewir y gymygedd hon o bethau.  Os oes unrhyw beth hoffech weld mwy ohono, nodweddion hoffech weld, awgrymiadau neu unrhyw beth arall hoffech weld yma, anfonwch nhw at warp@g39.org cyn gynted a sy’n bosib, a cheisiwn ni eu cynnwys.

Cadwch yn saff ag iach,

Cinzia, Sam,
Ellie, Anthony
& Chris

It’s been a long strange summer. As things start to settle down into new routines that are anything but ordinary, we’ve been thinking about how we can work with artists on creative programmes without relying on what once seemed to be one of our most valuable assets; a large sociable, adaptable indoor space.

However, it seems, we can be sociable, and adaptable anywhere, so we have got loads coming up in our programme over the next few months. We have commissioned seven artists/groups to develop new work for our Intermission series, there are three more guest One-to-Ones this month with more to come later in the year, and we are developing online events with The Romani Cultural & Arts association and with the Jarman Award. We’re also building up our online resources with artist contributions and gearing up to get our Fellowship artists active in the building again. The gallery space may not be open again until 2021, but our programme is as busy as ever.

We hope this mix of things is welcome. If there is anything you want to see more of, features you want to see, suggestions or things you want featured, send them to warp@g39.org as early as possible and we’ll try to include them.

This bulletin is put together by the five of us left in the scattered g39 - still working from sofas and kitchen tables.

Keep safe and well,

Cinzia, Sam,
Ellie, Anthony
& Chris

News From Us    //
Ein Newyddion Ni:

Cymrodoriaeth
g39 Fellowship

We are pleased to be able to re-start the fellowship programme at g39, which was stopped before it even started back in Spring. From October onwards we will be supporting the final six months of the first group, Kelly Best, Jennifer Taylor, Ian Watson, Fern Thomas and Neasa Terry which will culminate with an exhibition at g39 and as part of a collective publication by Edward Ball and the Freelands Artist programme with an exhibition at The Freelands Foundation, London.

We will also (finally!) start an intense six month with the second group Rhiannon LoweBecca Thomas and Clare Charles, Freya Dooley, William Roberts and Rebecca Gould. We are working out which pieces of this programme can be in the space and which bits can be on line, but it feels good to finally be starting.

//

Rydym yn falch cael ail-afael ar y rhaglen gymrodoriaeth yn g39, a oedd rhaid ei atal cyn iddo hyd yn oed ddechrau yn y Gwanwyn. O Hydref ymlaen byddwn yn cefnogi'r chwe mis olaf o’r grŵp cyntaf, Kelly Best, Jennifer Taylor, Ian Watson, Fern Thomas a Neasa Terry a fydd yn diweddu mewn arddangosfa yn g39 ac fel rhan o gyhoeddiad casgliadol gan Edward Ball a’r rhaglen Freelands Artist gydag arddangosfa yn The Freelands Foundation, London.

Byddwn hefyd (o’r diwedd!) yn dechrau chwe mis dwys gyda’r ail grŵp Rhiannon LoweBecca Thomas and Clare Charles, Freya Dooley, William Roberts a Rebecca Gould. Rydym yn ceisio darganfod pa ddarnau o’r rhaglen bydd yn y gofod a be all fod ar-lein, ond mae’n teimlo’n dda cael ailddechrau o’r diwedd.

Intermission is a series of newly commissioned artworks that engage with people and places outside of the gallery walls. Artists from across wales will develop new works using conversation and research, writing and filmmaking, online-space and local neighbourhoods as starting points.

 While we work on re-shaping g39 for re-opening, keep an eye on our website and social media over the next few months. We will post more details as the commissions develop.

//

Cyfres o weithiau celf newydd yw Intermission. Mae’r comisiynau yn cysylltu gyda phobl a lleoliadau tu allan a rhwng muriau’r galeri. Bydd artistiaid hyd a lled Cymru yn creu gwaith newydd trwy sgwrs ac ymchwil, ysgrifen a ffilm, gofod ar-lein a chymdogaethau fel man cychwyn.

Tra ein bod yn gweithio ar ail-siapio g39 ar gyfer ail-agor, cadwch lygad ar ein gwefan a chyfryngau cymdeithasol dros y misoedd nesaf. Byddwn yn postio mwy o fanylion wrth i’r comisiynau ddatblygu.

Sgwrs//Talk: Michelle Williams Gamaker

15/10/20, 19.00

Image credit: Michelle Williams Gamaker, House of Women, 2017

Michelle Williams Gamaker works with moving image, performance and installation.  Her practice is often in dialogue with film history, particularly Hollywood and British studio films. By restaging scenes to reveal their politically problematic, imperialist roots; her work is a form of 'fictional activism' to recast characters originally played by white actors with people of colour. She combines scriptwriting, workshopping with actors, revisiting analogue VFX and producing props to create intricately staged films.

Mae Michelle Williams Gamaker yn gweithio gyda delweddau symudol, perfformiad a gosodiadau. Mae ei hymarfer yn aml yn gysylltiedig â hanes ffilm, yn enwedig ffilmiau Hollywood a'r stiwdio Brydeinig. Trwy ail-lwyfannu golygfeydd i ddangos eu gwreiddiau gwleidyddol, imperialaidd problemus; mae ei gwaith yn ffurf ar 'actifiaeth ffuglennol' trwy ail-gastio cymeriadau a gafodd eu chwarae'n wreiddiol gan actorion gwyn gyda phobl groenliw. Mae'n cyfuno ysgrifennu sgriptiau, cynnal gweithdai gydag actorion, ailedrych ar effeithiau gweledol analog a chynhyrchu propiau i greu ffilmiau wedi'u llwyfannu’n gywrain.

LUX presents Jenny Brady, featuring a moving image work, Receiver (2019). A crossed telephone line propels Receiver into a suite of heated and intimate conversations in which we encounter scenes of protest at a university for deaf students; Q&A cross-fire interrogation, vocal confrontations and lip-reading practice. In its various moods the film presents a heady and multi-layered assemblage of Deaf history. Receiver considers how we both speak and listen, and the question of who has the right and capacity to be heard.
