Save the Date!

Save the Date: Sierra-Cascades Yearly Meeting of Friends Fall Quarterly Gathering will be on Saturday, October 23. A decision has been made that this will be fully virtual (on Zoom) rather than in-person as we had hoped.  More information coming soon with details on schedule and registration.

World Quaker Day: Resilience and Hope

An invitation to save the date for World Quaker Day which will be taking place on Sunday 3rd October 2021.

Our theme this year is Resilience and Hope: drawing strength from our Quaker faith. We invite you to download the poster, share the news, view the reports from last World Quaker Day, and look at the resources for ideas of how to celebrate this year's event. We look forward to celebrating with you later in the year!

Finally, we are asking you to share new, online worship links. If your local meeting, church or worship group is still worshiping online, and are welcoming visitors from around the world, please fill in our online form.  We are in the process of updating our list of online worship links for Friends around the world. More information can be found below.

One of the last items of business at an annual session is the approval of the epistle, a letter sent "to all Friends everywhere" that summarizes the events of the recent days, and tries to name where the Holy Spirit has shown up and led us to a decision or a new direction, or just filled with the love of God. The job of those on the Epistle Committee is to watch for those moments when the Spirit is present and active, and the group is responding, and then to get that experience into words.  A secondary task of the committee is to read and collect the epistles from other yearly meetings and Quaker gatherings, looking for themes and commonalities, and then bring excerpts which might be read during business sessions and/or sent out as a "document in advance" so Friends have a sense of what is going on in the wider world of Quakers.

Each week, we're featuring a different committee, working group, or task force and highlighting how they serve the yearly meeting. You can always nominate yourself or someone who you know has gifts to serve with our online form.
